We met his Mom today!

Today at 3 pm we met baby boy's mom, Becca and her mom. I was so nervous all day. I swear I was going to vomit. They don't prep you to meet Birthmoms in IF land. We ended up meeting in the waiting room, as she was the only pregnant lady there with her mom. We smiled at each other.
I can't imagine how nervous she was, but I know how nervous I was. I couldn't think of anything to say. I wanted to look the best for her, and so did my hubby. He wanted us to get there 10 minutes early so "she would know how much we care about her baby."
She told us she picked us partly because we had waited so long. I was touched! We talked about the birth plan and the plan for contact through the years. We talked about name choices. We found out Becca's mom works up near where hubby's parents live. I also noticed that she wrote down Catholic under her religious affiliation. I had prayed to God to show me how and if this was the right situation, and I believe it is, due to our conversation today.
Overall, it was awkward at first, but I think it was all the pressure we all felt. I hope we conveyed how much we wanted to be parents to her son. We asked Sue what she thought about Becca going through with the adoption and she felt really good, although she stressed there was no guarantee.
Hubby and I feel confident in her decision and will be going forward making arrangements, painting his room, finding a lawyer, and all the fun stuff that comes with babies. We told our families to wait with holding a shower until we have the baby, as I want to make sure we have a baby to celebrate. Thus is getting more real by the day!
Thank you for all your prayers and congratulations! We know they are how hubby and I have stayed as calm as we have in the last week. Please keep us, Becca, baby boy and Becca's family in your prayers in the month ahead. I know your prayers have prayed up this baby. I have no doubt about that!

  16. Exciting, exciting. I know that nervous feeling like you are going to throw up. There are books to help you prepare for a job interview. There are books that give dating advice, but meeting a birth mom? Maybe you could write that book. Maybe another reason the birth mom chose you is because she wants the baby to be raised in the Catholic church. I'm glad the meeting went well.

Exciting, exciting. Keep your readers posted. Looking forward to sharing electronically this journey with you

  29. Did I ever congratulate you? Sorry, I'm really behind and really dense! :)

This is great news! Very nerve wracking! I'll never forget my girlfriends adoption when I was freaking out over a situation, she told me no better place then to be at God's mercy. I was the one that was supposed to be offering her support. :) Ahhh!

Very exciting! Can't wait to see pics of the nursery! So fun!
