Infertility Timeline

- August 2006 -
Married. Not officially trying right away. Can't wait to "accidentally" get pregnant.

- August 2008 -
I have a 'feeling' something is wrong. We aren't pregnant yet. By the grace of God, I find information on NFP from our Engaged Encounter paperwork while de-cluttering. Sign up for a class to begin charting the Creighton Method of NFP.

- January 2009 -
Begin working with a local Doctor who is familiar with NFP and the Creighton Method. Help & advice finally begins!

- May 2009 -
Problem: Short post-peak phase & low/no cervical mucus. Start HCG shots to help my luteal phase defect. Start Mucinex to help with mucus production.

- Sept 2009 -
Mucinex isn't working. Begin Amoxicillan to help with mucus production. It works!!! So THAT's what its supposed to be like!

- January 2010 -
Add Progesterone supplements to my P+3 to P+12 pill regime. Local doctor performs a sonogram and finds a cyst on my right ovary. Meds won't help it go away.

- March 2010 -HSG test to determine if tubes are open. They are. No blockage. Send off packet to Dr. Hilgers at Pope Paul VI Institute in Omaha.

- July 2010 -
Approved to be a patient at PPVI & select Dr. Keefe to be my doctor. Do all the bloodwork necessary and take my week's vacation in Omaha for testing.

- August 2010 -
Happy 4th Anniversary! Have my laparoscopy on the same day as our wedding four years ago! Dr. Keefe finds she needs to go back for a more extensive surgery. Its just my luck!

- Sept 2010 -
Laparotomy with Dr. Keefe at PPVI. My appendix is removed as well. Dr. at PPVI finds my left thyroid nodule is enlarged.

- November 2010 -
Find my Prolactin levels are high. Start Bromacriptine. Have an MRI to see if there is a pituitary tumor. MRI comes back negative. An Endocrinologist recommends my left thyroid should be removed.

- January 2011 -
Surgery to remove my left thyroid nodule. It is benign. Now I can start actively TTC and am prescribed all the meds that go with it!

- February 2011 -
I am prescribed Zithromax, for the TEBB. Start Progesterone on P+3 to P+12. Also on B-6 for mucus, which hasn't worked in the past. Add Fertile CM to see if that will help.

- March 2011 -
Instead of B-6, I can go back on Amoxicillan for my mucus! It helps! Also adding CardioTabs instead of Fish Oil. TEBB returns.

- April 2011 -
Again on Zithromax, Progesterone, Amoxicillan, FertileCM, B-6 and Bromacriptine. Something's gotta work! (Still having brown bleeding at the beginning of my cycle)

- May 2011 -
Added Mucinex to my list of mucus enhancers: B-6, FertileCM and Amoxicillan. Also, PPVI adds T3 to see if this will get my thyroid in gear. Taking IM Progesterone shots this cycle on P+4,7,10 instead of progesterone pills.

- May 23, 2011 -
Start Fema.ra (dose of 25) on Day 3 only. T3 dose is upped to 22.5 mcg. Still on the combo of Mucinex (1200 mg, 2x day), Amoxicillan (500 mg, 3x day) & FertileCM (3x day) from Day 7 thru Peak, plus the IM Progesterone shots.  Had 5 white baby stickers this month

- June 21, 2011 -
Keep on all drugs but Zithromax for TEBB.  Doctor wants another regimin of a 21 day antibiotic for the hubby and I.  Start Adoption Paperwork.  P = 17.2 (>13 is good) / E = 14.8 (>12 is good

- July 16, 2011 -
Hemorragic cyst on my right ovary.  Increased dose of Femara to 40 mg.  Still taking T3.  Found out I didn't ovulate this cycle (2 months later).  P= 17.2 (>13 is good), E = 14.8 (>12 is good)

- August 9, 2011 -
Still on Prenatal, FertileCM/Aid, Bromacriptine, CardioTabs, Ammox & Probiotic, Mucinex, IM Progesterone, T3 & Femara (40 mg).  I didn't ovulate this cycle either.  Doctor not worried about LUFS.  Start LDN (low dose naltrexone for brown bleeding, inflammation & immunity issues.  P = 32.2 (>13 is good) / E = 7.7 (>12 is good)

- September 7, 2011 -
I did ovulate this month.  Still a 3 cm cyst on my right ovary.  No Femara for next month to check follicles.  Next cycle Day 3 ultrasound.  Thyroid doctor tests and finds low T4 but normal Prolactin (still on Bromacriptine).  Start Synthroid (50 mcg).  P = 24.1 (>13 is good) / E = 12.6 (>12 is good)

- October 11, 2011 -
Nothing new to report other than I couldn't identify correctly my peak day.  Or my hormones were out of whack.  I saw peak type mucus several days  after my what I thought was my peak day.    P = 4.9 (>13 is good) / E = 8.9 (>12 is good)  I will be taking Femara/Letrozole this month on Day 3, with probably a P+4 ultrasound.  On my Day 3 ultrasound, I still have a large cyst on my right side.

- November 9, 2011 -
Dr. K increased my dosage of thyroid meds from 50 mcg to 75 mcg (or mg).  No P+4 ultrasound this month.  My cyst is shrinking from the Progesterone shots, which is good.  Otherwise, we're doing the same old thing this cycle.  P & E numbers looked good.

- December 7, 2011 -
Dr. K told me to redo the SFA (Semen Analysis) & do an adrenal questionnaire ... my bloodwork showed a "low/normal cortisol level".  Took Levothyroxine (aka Synthroid) this cycle (75 mcg)

- January 3, 2012 -
Started taking "Zija", which is an anti-inflammatory OTC med (packet of mix you put in water).  I started Cortef (hydrocortisone) with 15 mg in the AM and 5 mg in the PM.  Progesterone = 12.4 (wanted it 13 or more) and Estradiol was 8.2 (want it 12 ore more).  Hubby took a SFA and it came back "ok", we guess, except noted that he had an infection.

- January 28, 2012  to February 25, 2012 -
I took Femara / Letrozole this cycle.  Hubby took a 21 day antibiotic after getting the SFA results back.

- February 26, 2012  to March 20, 2012 -
Hubby still taking the 21 day antibiotic.  Apparently the man doesn't do "every day" ... we're going on two months of a less-than-a-month drug.  Ugh.  Dr. K said the SFA count was normal and to redo the SFA in 3 months after finishing the antibiotics.  Dr. wants me to do a 10 day IV Cleocin due to my TEBB.  For this, a Home Health agency will come in and set up the IV pump.  It will be a continuous infusion.  Continue to take the Zija.

- March 21, 2012 to ____________ -
Continued treatment as prescribed.  Thinking of the Cleocin IV, but not committing yet.  Our baby boy is born April 2, via the gift of adoption.  Infertility treatments are on hold.  I don't miss being a slave to the clock to take meds.
