Emma

Oh dear - I was just seeing when my last post was ... I have truly fallen off the face of the earth!!  But I have a few minutes now, so no time like the present for an update. :)
We welcomed Emma Grace Elizabeth into the world on January 12 this year!  She was born at 12:50 pm and weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 20" long. She had a head full of dark hair, long fingers, even longer feet! and big dark baby blue eyes.
These last two months have flown by with enjoying Emma (and lack of sleep), and we are slowly getting into a routine.
I'll leave you with some Emma pictures for now ... More to come soon!

Just an hour old!

Luke and Emma - the first night she was on the outside

The Lazy Days of Summer

It's about time for an update - a total mash up of things that I've held onto without blogging about them.  :)

We have stayed busy this summer, that's for sure.  Nothing that is too adventurous, just day to day stuff.  We planned to go on a trip to Omaha to see trains and the zoo, but then Luke got sick and we haven't picked another day to go up there ... but it is something we will do before it gets too cold.   Luke and I enjoy hanging out outside when the weather isn't super hot, so that leaves evenings or mornings when there is shade.  Our backyard gets the sun from the west, and we have no trees or shade (too many power lines above to even add a tree), so we stay inside and out of the sun's beating rays.

Luke helps me water the flowers around our house this year and I think really is starting to understand and help after watching me do things.  When he waters, HE wants to do it all by himself.  So sometimes we get water on the plants, and sometimes we water random things ... like the border blocks or weeds or just random grass.  And we skip a few flowers, but then I go back and "finish."  Luke has figured out if he sprays water on our front porch, he can jump in a puddle while I finish watering.  My hope is that he will love (or at least like) flowers more than DH does.  DH does not like anything flowers or mowing or yard work.  :)

We have museum memberships to the local Children's Museum (Toys) and the Regular Museum (Animals), so we can go there anytime and let Luke run.  He is pretty familiar with where everything is and loves to look at and play with his favorite things.  We ask him if he wants to go to the Toy Museum or the Animal Museum and he will tell us.  We are thankful that Luke is using words and can tell us exactly what he wants to do without having a tantrum.  :)

Playing in our back yard playset from Uncle John.  He sure loves the rocket!

Luke also loves going to parks when the weather isn't unbearable!  He and daddy have found a park with some new playground equipment (which in the town we live in is pretty amazing in and of itself).  They have enjoyed testing out the equipment and sometimes on their way to and from the park, they will stop by my work and say, "Hi, Ma!" and "Bye, Ma!" ... never staying longer than Luke wants to, as he is always ready to go, go, go!  It is all about his schedule!!

We took Luke to the "Minions" movie this summer ... and he and Daddy went to the "Penguins of Madagascar" movie, so Luke is getting familiar with what to do at a movie (hint - we don't talk and run around and lay down in the aisles!) and he also loves theater popcorn ... and his milk, as we sneak that in.  He sat and watched both movies and was really good.

Unrelated to movies (kind of), Luke is also becoming quite a well behaved little boy at church!  I know ... once I type this, next Sunday will be craaa-zy!  Since DH works 7-4 pm, Luke and I usually go by ourselves at the 11 am Mass.  Luke has learned that he can do almost anything as long as he is quiet and stays in the pew.  We have come a long way from the "crying-room-only-and-he-has-cried-for-45-minutes-already-and-is-making-me-crazy" kind of Sundays.  So for parents whose children are totally crazy at Mass and do not listen and you are sick of sitting in the cry room ... there is hope!!!

Luke is going to be starting Preschool with the local Head Start Program at the end of August.  He has had the Head Start ladies come to our home twice a month for the last year and this summer, he has gone to a "Toddler Group" where there are 7 little boys his age who need help with various skills (similar to Luke).  So Luke gets to ride the bus home after Toddler Group and he loves it!  He has a "Thomas the Train" backpack and even leaves his blankie and milk at home, he loves it so much!!  We will have to get Grandpa to take Luke out on the bus sometime before he retires (he has been a bus driver forever, it seems ... my sister and I would ride along when he was training to be one and it was pretty fun.)
I made DH take pics of Luke and the bus since DH is the one who sees Luke get off the bus and how excited he is to ride it.  I always miss it, as I'm at work.

Smiley little guy!!  It was so much fun!!

We made things "Facebook official" in regard to our pregnancy announcement, with Luke posing in his "Big Brother" shirt and with his "Big Brother" doll.  We are also watching the "Daniel Tiger Season 2 on Netflix which talks about Daniel becoming a big brother, so hopefully Luke will learn through watching Daniel.  Although Luke looks happy in this photo, he was actually throwing a tantrum, so this is the best picture we have.  Thankfully, it looks like he is smiling, so we went with it.

As of this weekend, I am 17 weeks pregnant.  Doctors checkups have gone well and I am feeling good.  Now that I'm in the 2nd trimester, the super-tiredness has gone away, but I still enjoy my naps on the weekends / after work, as I can get them.  :)  DH says "milk it while you can."  He's awesome! And I will do just that.  :)

I haven't gained much weight yet, which is actually good, as technically, I am in the "obese" category when it comes to weight.  I started January 25 of this year weighing in at 259 lbs and am currently 242 lbs and maintaining since about April.  This has dropped my BMI from 34.2 to 31.9, but I am still over a BMI of 30, which is considered obese.  Yuck.  I hate that word.  Obese.  It is just depressing.  According to the doctor, I should aim to gain 25 lbs this pregnancy at the most, and most of it should be in the third trimester.  So far, I haven't felt super hungry and have been eating until I feel full, but not really shoving food in my mouth with cravings.  I'm still watching my calories so I don't go overboard.  In a perfect world, I would have lost more weight becoming pregnant, but I still consider it to be pretty amazing that I got pregnant anyway, so I am counting my blessings that I have a baby growing inside me and just saying "screw it" to any weight gain.

As I am not a "junior size" skinny-minnie, I really need to find a store for the "bigger, taller gal" for pregnancy clothes.  Currently, I'm looking the same and haven't changed clothing sizes at all or started showing at all.  I have a lot of fat in my stomach area that has to get pushed aside by Baby before I will start showing.  :)  I can "feel" a hardness behind my lower tummy, so I know baby is growing and I will be bigger before I know it, so I'm trying not to rush things while I'm still able bodied and agile.   Anyway ... I went into Gordmans locally where they were supposed to have Motherhood Maternity brand clothes, which I checked into on the internet as they should have plus sizes.  Perfect, I thought!  Except they didn't have those plus sizes at that store.  What they had were junior sized maternity pants that my calf couldn't fit into for the thigh area.  UGHHH!!  I was so depressed.  I should have known better.  Trying to buy clothes at Gordmans when you're not a 12 year old girl is depressing.  Nothing fits.  And the material is always so skimpy too.  Skimpy stuff on me hangs on my body and does not make me look good at all.  Give me some thicker material that holds its shape, please.  Good grief!  I'll have to make a trek to Lincoln or Omaha before long to get some better fitting pants for sure.  Either that, or order online, which I'm leery of doing, as me and clothes (pants especially) do not jive well at all.  So ... if you have any clothing hints, I'm all ears.

To end on a high note, we are only 3 weeks away from finding out whether Baby is a boy or a girl!!  We are scheduled for our anatomy scan / gender ultrasound on August 20th and can't wait!  As we selected to find out with Luke that he was a boy when we were picked by Becca, we are going to find out with baby too.  If baby is a girl, we will need to get a storage unit nearby, as DH's mom is going to go crazy and buy anything and everything pink.  But we are going to be just as excited if it is a boy too ... as we know all things boy.  It is a win-win either way.  :)

I also need help in narrowing down names, so knocking out one gender will help immensely.  I don't have any names that are totally jumping out at me now, as I want them to mean something, as they did with Luke.  Luke's name is Luke Ethan Joseph ... Luke we just liked as it was a classic name ... Ethan was what I liked as a first name choice (but DH didn't) and Becca wanted an "E" name since Luke's brother is Eli and was going to name Luke "Eden", so Ethan was close ... and Joseph is for St. Joseph's intercession for Luke's adoption the whole way.  He was and continues to be a very powerful intercessor for our family.  I want Baby to have the same "story" behind his/her name.

Well ~ I'll end the novel for now ... and now I need to get caught up on all my blog reading and what you all have been up to!  :)  I hope you are all having a wonderful summer!!

Growing by Two Feet

It has been awhile since the last post when I was all gung-ho to show you the redone foyer.  I had kind of stalled out on photographing my other projects ... one of the reasons is that Luke's room re-do isn't quite as neat as it once was, and I didn't get an "after" picture before he edited the room for me.  We had ordered some wall clings that stick to the painted walls.  They were animals and Thomas the train and I had hung them in his room for his birthday so he could enjoy them.  Well, one day at nap time, he didn't nap, and instead pulled ALL of the wall clings off of the wall and wadded them into a heap.  They are not reusable and I'm not going to spend the money again until he's old enough to leave them on the wall ... so all in all, it was pretty frustrating that within 30 days, that money went up in smoke.  And I didn't get any pictures with the wall decor.  Ahhh ... one day I'll learn.  :)

Well, it has been a surprising and fantastic May and June for our family, so I will clue you in if you've missed the goings-on announced in a few online Facebook groups (none of which the general Facebook population or non-immediate family & friends know yet).

DH and I were surprised a little over a month ago by a positive pregnancy test after almost 9 years of marriage.   Let me give you the back story ...

I'd been saying night prayers with Luke for awhile now. I've always believed that God especially hears the prayer
s of little children, so I say prayers of thanksgiving and pray for others. About 5-6 months ago, we were trying to discern the next step in adoption ... do we go with what agency? do we learn more about foster care?  So Luke and I began praying to God, "please grow our family in whatever way You see fit ... Amen" not even considering pregnancy. Not one teeny, tiny bit.

As I never expected to ever be pregnant, after we stopped TTC for good before Luke's birth 3 years ago, I stopped charting, other than to notice that my periods came about every 30 or so days. I knew I was due to start my period at the end of April or beginning of May and on April 28-29 saw some light spotting / bleeding, that I had assumed was the start of my period. I waited for things to go into full force there and didn't really think about it much, but my period never came. In the back of my mind was the fact that it could be implantation bleeding, but that was just something that wouldn't happen to me, so I put it out of my mind. Until about a week later.
I was feeling tired, lost my appetite, my boobs hurt and I was getting aches in my stomach area like cramps, but there was no period. Weird!!

I was determined to figure out if I could really be pregnant or not, so within a week after the bleeding, I took a pregnancy test the morning of May 7th before work. As I sat there waiting to look, I wondered ... what if, but quickly dashed those thoughts away.  Why would I entertain those thoughts now?  It had never happened.

When I looked at the results, I was sure I didn't read them correctly. What was this "+" sign? Didn't that mean a negative result? I read and re-read the instructions. Even the Spanish ones.  smile emoticon Then I thought ... no way .... and I showered. Then looked at the test again. Then I went in and woke up DH by shoving the test stick and the instructions in his face and said ... does this mean what I think it means??? And he woke up and slowly stared at what I'd shoved in his face and what I was asking him to do. He read everything and looked up at me and smiled. And I said, "Don't get too excited.  There's no way. It's not possible."

I decided to go into the doc that morning to get a blood test to confirm. I pushed my way into an appointment with the doc I never go to and explained the reasoning that "I have to prove I'm not pregnant and if I'm pregnant by some small miracle, I need progesterone immediately." Yeah ... I got a few crazy looks at the whole "prove I'm not pregnant" part. But we did the blood test and that came back positive (which was crazy). And then I got started on progesterone shots as I knew I was low in progesterone and have been on those shots ever since.

We were scheduled by the doctor for a "dating ultrasound" and saw the baby on June 4th. We saw baby's heartbeat. That makes it so much more real. I was sure there would be no baby ... or ectopic pregnancy ... or baby with no heartbeat. I was so glad to see baby moving and their heart beating.  At the ultrasound, I measured 8 weeks 5 days (which goes right along with the conception date I had estimated) and doctor says my due date is early January. She says January 6th, which would be wonderful, as it is my Grandpa (in heaven)'s Birthday.

I kept waiting (and keep waiting) for the other shoe to drop. I know so many of you ladies have had experience with miscarriage and even my mom has had two, so I know that I am not guaranteed to meet my baby this side of heaven. I keep praying to the saints and family members to watch over baby and am grateful for the time we have with him/her.

So ... that's my story ... DH and I are surprised beyond our wildest dreams and grateful for the opportunity to experience everything that's happened so far and what is to come. And I continue to pray daily for this baby to "Grow, Baby, Grow!"  As of today, I am 11 weeks, which is amazing and crazy all at the same time.

How we announced to our parents ... we showed them each person's shoes and the years of our birth.  They knew we planned to adopt again and thought we were announcing our plans to adopt.  Then, we showed them a picture of the positive pregnancy test.  They all were elated!  My MIL screamed in excitement!   We are keeping things quiet on Facebook for a few more weeks yet.  Our immediate families know and that is it so far.

Here are two pictures of our little one, which we texted to our parents after the ultrasound.  It became so much more real after seeing baby on the screen, moving around and seeing baby's heart beat.  I know people get pregnant all the time, but I am completely blown away by how God orchestrates conception and how a baby grows and develops inside a woman's body.  I can't put it into words, but I am just amazed at the true miracle of life and baby's development.  For the last nine years, I knew people got pregnant and had kids, but I personally did not equate sex/making love with having babies.  It is still hard to wrap my head around the fact that it happened for us.  We are so grateful!

Making Ugly Beautiful (Part II)

It is the "REVEAL" episode for my front entry (aka "The Foyer").  Let me show you how I took this room from Ugly to Beautiful as we look over the past two years of photos.

The true BEFORE picture is below - we had first moved into the house.  Note the original drapery, window trim and flooring in this picture.
When we were looking at the house, I loved the charm of the front entry way and how it showcased the stair case and beautiful post detail at the bottom of it.  I loved the color of the staircase, but wasn't crazy about the woodwork on the window trim and door casings in the Foyer, or the rest of the house, as when I took the curtain off of the window, someone had craftily covered up the terrible trim work on the window.  On one side of the window, two pieces of trim were butt together, leaving a seam that wasn't puttied or matched up at all.  Just a big, ugly joint.  I hated the dusty, ugly curtain that was there, so I lived with the big cracked joint in the trim.  The trim was around an old window that was cracked and let in (and out) a lot of air.  We didn't dare open it, as there were holes where critters could crawl in and that gave the the heebie jeebies.

The trim work in the foyer for the baseboards were the big, tall, original moldings to the house (which we estimate around the 1920's with some of the doors upstairs).  They look pretty nice, until I was scrubbing the floor and looked closer and discovered that they had painted the baseboards to look like stained trim!  Additionally, the door trim on the foyer side of the wide opening (you can't see) they had switched out (like the window) to a standard smaller trim (not matching the size and profile of the rest of the trim in the house.  So you have all this beautiful trim work, except for around the window (where they cobbled stuff together) and around the wide opening into the living room.  I'm so not sure why they did that!

The flooring in the picture is pine and sort of a reddish color at that.  While it was ok, it needed a good sanding and restaining, as it was very worn in spots.  When we had a flooring guy come to our house, he said that we really couldn't sand and restain it, as it was not thick enough to do that to.  Plus, we had decided to get new flooring for the Kitchen, and in that part of the house, we didn't have this same flooring underneath it, so we decided to match the Foyer and the Kitchen flooring to make things more cohesive.  It kills my little brother that we covered up the original floor, but in my mind, it is "protected."  :)

Also, as you can see, we have a vintage hanging light circa Montgomery Wards 1970's edition.  It is a beautiful 2 bulb brass light with layers and layers of dust and grime and really didn't put out much light at all.  My dad worked at Wards back in the day, and he remembered the exact item number of this light, which he says was a big hit in its day.  I'm sure it was in its day, but I sure don't agree with its beauty now.

Below is a picture after we had painted the ceiling and the living room, repurposed an old bookshelf into a TV stand and I had added some decor to make it more "home-y".  Note the original window, flooring and original woodwork in the living room.

Below is a shot of all the stained wood trim in the house ... it was all different colors and I thought made the house feel "old," if that makes any sense.  The colors of the woodwork in the living room were different from the stairs, which were different from the foyer baseboards, etc, etc.  They kind of hodge-podged this house together, I think.

Below is a picture before I began painting the trim in the entry.  Note that we have by now replaced the window itself and the window trim (it is crazy-amazing what you can actually *see* through clear, new glass and not a dirty old window with terrible glass!).  I had a remodeler guy do both for me - for the trim, he just used some 2x4's and I had him round the edges to match the profile of the rest of the trim work.  I was going to paint the wood anyway, so it didn't matter that the wood matched anything else.  He also replaced the trim work on the foyer side of the large opening into the living room.

Below is a picture from the front door angle, of what you can see as you stand in the entry.  Note the replaced 2x4 trim on the foyer side into the living room.  MUCH better!!

Here is a picture looking up the stairs with the old light.  You can't see the marks on the wall or the general grossness of "builder white" painted walls with years of gunk and fingerprints and marks on them.  As I was painting, I kept being so thankful to be covering up the grossness with new, clean paint - and COLOR!

Below is a view of the front door and a little snippet of the window.

Below is a picture of one of my brothers old antique dressers in the entry.  I liked it well enough, but it was hard to decorate around and with, and it gave the house more of a period feel, which didn't match the rest of my furniture.

Here is one more last shot before the big reveal ... remember the ugly when you see ...

Here are the AFTER photos!!!

Above is a shot of the foyer with the trim painted, the stairs painted, new flooring, new blinds and pictures hung.  I may put a valance above the window, as I think the window and to the left of the window look a little bare, but will wait until I find something that fits.  You may notice a new TV stand, paint & decor in the right edge of the photo - the Living Room has changed as well, but that will be another post.    :-D

I took the pictures at night (they turned out better than in the day), but the color is more of the blue to the center and right in the photo, not the greenish blue like between the window and corner where the wreath is.  The paint is a pretty blue by Sherwin Williams, called "Silvermist" (SW 7621).  The trim color is also by Sherwin Williams, called "Roman Column".  It is not a bright white, but more of a creamy white.  I painted the ceiling and the trim the same color.

Let me tell you about painting stairs and bannisters.  Do not think about how long it will actually take you to tape everything off, how much tape you'll use, how long it will take to paint it and about how many coats of paint you will have to do and how much you'll have to look for paint drips down the bannister rails.  Do not think of any of those things.  Just do it.  I was SO glad when I was done with the stair case!!

To get started, I first gave all the trim a light sanding with a sanding pad and then I wiped it clean with a tack cloth.  I needed to get the old finish off and rough up the surface to accept the new coat of paint.  In homes earlier than 1978, you should wear a mask, tape off all areas to be affected by the sand dust, etc and then wipe everything down with wet wipes and bag things in hazardous material bags.  I know the rules but I didn't do any of those (may regret it later).  If we were actually ripping into the walls (like in the Kitchen), we would have done that, but I did not do that for this.  I wore a mask for the light sanding I did do, vacuumed the dust up that did accumulate and prepped to tape.

I think I used a roll of the blue painters tape to tape off what I did - and I didn't tape off everything!  It took about 2 hours to tape everything off on the stairs themselves and from the baseboard molding down to the carpeting / vinyl flooring below.  After taping things off, I painted all the trim first before I rolled the walls.  That way I didn't need to worry about taping around all the openings too.  If trim paint got on the walls, so be it - I was going to paint the wall color over it next.  (I'd painted first and then taped off for the trim in the living room, and it was *SO* much more work to do that, plus, the blue painters tape didn't stop the paint from bleeding under it in spots, and it pulled off the wall paint in other places - so I had to go back with a fine small paintbrush and paint back wall color on.  Not fun!  Lesson learned - paint trim first, then wall color second)  It took 3 coats of trim paint before the the old woodwork was covered.  I could have done 4 coats, but I just touched up the really bad areas and called it good.  By that time, I was tired of painting and wanted to get to the "fun" blue color that I'd waited so long to get to!!

A shot of the corner between the door and the opening to the living room.  Note how the trim work matches now in size.  I also painted the door in Sherwin Williams' "Peppercorn" color.  It coordinates with the curtains in the living room (and I used it upstairs in Luke's room to paint his furniture).

A shot of the newly painted door and window.

A shot of the wall of photos and the little bench seating area.   In the last house we lived at, we had a long hallway, so I put up a cluster of photos in the hallway.  Here we don't have a lot of wall space that isn't windows or door openings, so I wanted to make the stairs a focal point.  The color of the stair post, bannister, picture frames & crucifix are all about the same color, so that ties it all together and repeats.  I did not plan for the bench seat to match - but it fit well there, covers the old vent with all the super old cobwebs inside (think haunted house cobwebs, but for real!) and the pillows popped the colors in this space as well.

Here is a shot from the living room / tv area towards the front door.   I didn't realize how drastic the white painted base shoe looks in the pictures against the post - maybe I shouldn't have painted it - but oh well.  By that time, I was tired of taping the bannister and didn't want to mess with the headache of thinking about that (poor excuse, I know).

A shot in from the front door.  Welcome!

Here is a close up shot of the cute little bench setup right inside.  We can sit and read with Luke (if Luke will sit still), but mostly it is a "look cute, but functional" place to sit down and put shoes on, throw coats, etc when guests come over.

Here is a close up shot of the decor above.  I found the blue "Live Simply ..." sign and the greenery ball at Gordmans (don't forget to use a 20% off coupon!), had the picture frame from before, bought the shelf at Menards, found the tall "In this home ..." sign at Gordmans (or Hobby Lobby - I can't quite remember which - they are both my favorite stores!) and the crucifix is from my childhood.

Above is a view up the stairs.  It adds so much character with photos hanging in the stairway.  I may eventually fill the wall going up where the stairs turn and go up, but for right now, this works for me.
One thing to note here above the crucifix, is that the stained board that was above it, I painted the wall color, not the trim color.  While I'd painted the board the cream trim color initially, I felt like the cream made the decor wall less wide - and by painting the board the wall color, it visually expanded that decor wall.

Above is a view from the stair landing up to the second floor.  The left doorway goes into the playroom, which goes into Luke's room.  The right door goes into a bedroom (note the fancy "accordion door".  This house was definitely stylin'.  That will get fixed someday.)  Picture the trim up here painted a dark brown - it looked like poop (honest!) and I don't think whoever painted it cared what it looked like.  It was the most hideous of all the trim work in the house.

Above is a picture taken from the second floor, looking down onto the stair landing.

Above is a picture looking down, taken from the stair landing.  We upgraded the light to a beautiful fixture we found at Menards.  See below for a close-up shot.   The light doesn't hang down so far and obscure the view of the pictures.  It also is larger in scale and fits the room, as well has an additional light bulb in it (3 instead of 2).  Plus - it has fancy crystals hanging from the bottom of it, making it a fancy-but-fun light for the entry way - and the price was right, too.

Here is one last picture with Luke in it, loving his new colorful entry way and stairs!
(I'm sure he loves it, but he was really "helping" me take pictures.  :-D)

Posts coming soon related to DIY are the Upstairs Playroom + Luke's Room before & after, as well as converting our old Junk Room/Office + Guest Bedroom into our current Master Bedroom.

Luke is Three! (pic post)

This post has been about 2 weeks in coming, but my little Luke is now THREE!!
I went back into "Yee-Ol-Blog-Archives" for memories of his birth day and found myself remembering the joy and anticipation surrounding his birth.  And also the uncertainty of Luke being forever ours.  It is so much easier to be looking back and knowing what happened rather than living in those moments - but I would do it all again in a heartbeat.  :-D

Here are some pictures my sister took of Luke for his "I'm THREE" photo shoot:

This one looks like he's posing, but he did not sit still for one split second.  The magic of the camera button captures all his movements.  :-)

One of my absolute favorites!!

Another one of my very favorites ~ he loves Thomas the Train (can you tell?)!

Laughing and giggling during the shoot!

***

We had a Thomas the Train themed birthday party for Luke on Saturday, the day before Easter.  We had both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all over to the house.  We hosted a meal, gift opening and a trip to the Children's Museum.  Then the cousins came back over to the house for an Easter Egg hunt.  It was a busy, nap-less day!

Cupcake cakes are the biggest hit!

There was one candle left!!
In the background are (left to right) DH's dad, my mom, DH's mom and my dad.
In the foreground are (left to right) Luke, cousin J (2 months older than Luke) and J's dad (DH's little brother).

Singing Happy Birthday and blowing out the candles - Luke can't wait for more fire!

Smiley, happy Birthday Boy!

We picked out "Thomas-Themed" colors and bought a helium tank at Walmart to fill up balloons.  We tied some to lamps/chairs/etc, but left 10 or so with long strings so they could float to the ceiling and the kids could pull them down and play with them.  It was a big hit!

Everyone got to have a balloon!

Luke got a train whistle for his birthday.  DH is showing Luke and cousin J how to blow it correctly.  Toot toot!!
(left to right - DH's mom, DH's oldest brother, DH and my mom)

Loving all the tissue paper with the gifts!  With two boys, they did a really good job of taking turns to open gifts.  With J's birthday a few months ago, Luke was all "happy helper" about opening gifts, so J returned the favor.

Weeee!  Tissue paper over the head!

Showing Grandpa their balloons!
(Left to right is my mom, Luke, J, DH's dad and DH)

At the Children's Museum, all the cousins had a blast together!  It was a solid 2.5 hours of running, fun and excitement!  (left to right is J, Luke and J's little brother JJ)

It is such a blessing to have Luke in our lives and be able to parent and love on him daily!  While I am sad that he's three (which means he's growing up - sniff, sniff) but so happy that he is thriving and with us.  I am so grateful to be his mommy ~ he lights up my days!!

Stay tuned for "After" reveals on the Foyer, Master Bedroom, Playroom and Luke's room.  Yes - I was crazy enough to get them all painted and decorated before the Birthday party.   :)
